Don't Mess With Me

Born in 1978. Married to a wonderful husband. We bore 2 adorable sons. I'm a nice & cheerful gal. But if you step on my tail, my claws shall come out & scratch your face. Don't mess with me. Hell knoweth no fury like a woman scorned. Your misery shall be my mastery. If you offend me, I'll make you regret it totally. You would wish you had never met me. You would wish you hadn't crossed my path. But all your wishes shall be futile. I will be merciless.

Full Synopsis: Warning! This synopsis contains spoilers
In 1845 in North-Western Territory, British North America, young James Howlett killed by his friend Victor Creed's father, Thomas Logan run away, pursued by a torch-wielding mob. They promise to look out for each other.

In the years that follow, adult brothers James are seen fighting together in the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, and eventually the Vietnam War. Their regenerative powers keep them from being killed in the battlefield. James is forced to act as a check on Victor's increasing rage and ferocity. In Vietnam, Victor kills a superior officer after being stopped from raping a girl, and James and Victor are sentenced to death by firing squad, though their unique regenerative abilities keep them alive.

Major William Stryker , who's super-strong and invulnerable; John Wraith , a.k.a. Bolt, who can control electricity; expert marksman Agent Zero , an amazing swordsman who never stops talking. The brothers join the group and are sent to the team's first mission: Invade the headquarters of a diamond trafficking operation in Lagos, Nigeria, to retrieve a meteorite. Afterwards, Stryker and the team brutally interrogate people from a nearby village to learn where the meteorite was found. James is disgusted by the murders committed by his teammates and abandons the group.

Six years afterward, James -- now going by his last name, Logan -- is a lumberjack living with his girlfriend Kayla Silverfox

An elderly couple, Travis , see Wolverine -- who escaped in the buff -- enter their barn. They're wary but welcoming, giving him food and clothing, including a leather jacket of their son's -- and their son's motorcycle. The next morning, both are shot dead by Zero. Wolverine takes out several HMMWVs, a helicopter and Zero himself, then goes to Las Vegas. Wolverine locates former associates John Wraith and Fred Dukes (who is now massively obese from a guilt-driven eating disorder), seeking to learn the location of Stryker's new laboratory. Wolverine learns the disbanded team had been capturing young mutants for Stryker. One of them, Remy LeBeau with Victor's aid.

Wolverine and Wraith locate Gambit in a New Orleans bar. Wolverine talks to Gambit while Wraith keeps watch outside, but Gambit suspects Wolverine was sent to recapture him and, using his ability to charge objects with kinetic energy, throws several playing cards at Wolverine that send him flying through a wall. Outside, Wolverine sees Victor has killed Wraith and taken a sample of his blood. Wolverine fights Victor, only to be interrupted by Gambit. Victor escapes, and after a brief struggle, Gambit agrees to take Wolverine to the mutant prison/laboratory on Three Mile Island. Once there, Wolverine confronts Stryker and learns Silverfox is still alive; Victor faked her death with hydrochlorothiazide. She was keeping track of the mutant to free her sister, Emma Frost With no more quarrel with Stryker, Wolverine departs. Victor, angered that Stryker let Wolverine go, demands the adamantium procedure. Stryker, however, tells him that he won't survive the procedure and in an act of rage, Victor tries to kill Silverfox. Wolverine hears Silverfox's screams and attacks Victor. Finally having the chance to kill Victor, Wolverine chooses not to give in to his animal instincts and instead knocks him out. Silverfox shows Wolverine to the holding cells, and he frees the mutants there; among them are Emma Frost and Scott Summers.

Panicking, Stryker prematurely activates his newest creation, Weapon XI

Weapon XI, also called Deadpool, is a mutant Frankenstein's monster, with the abilities of several of the killed and captured mutants: Scott's optic blasts, Wraith's teleportation, and Wolverine's healing ability. During the escape, Silverfox is mortally wounded. The other mutants escape through the facility's tunnels, guided by Scott who is unable to tell them how he knows the way out. Emerging from the tunnel, the party encounters a helicopter. Emerging from the helicopter is a familiar figure: Professor Charles Xavier Meanwhile, the fight between Wolverine and Weapon XI moves to the top of one of the nuclear power plant's cooling towers. Weapon XI overpowers and prepares to decapitate Wolverine, but Victor returns to aid his brother. Wolverine and Victor, now working together, are able to decapitate Weapon XI, sending its head, still firing optic blasts, down into the cooling tower. Wolverine coldly informs Victor that despite his help, their relationship is over. Victor reminds him that as brothers, they can never be finished, and jumps off the the cooling tower. The damage from the optic blasts causes the cooling tower to collapse, but Wolverine is saved by Gambit.

Wolverine asks Gambit to ensure the prisoners are safe, while he returns to find Silverfox, who stayed behind because she was wounded. As he carries her to safety, Stryker shoots him in the back with an adamantium bullet. Wolverine tries to kill him but is shot in the head, knocking him unconscious.

Silverfox uses her powers of persuasion to order Stryker to walk away until his feet bleed, then dies from her injuries. Gambit returns to assure Wolverine that the mutants are safe, but due to amnesia caused by the brain damage the adamantium bullets inflicted, Wolverine does not remember anything (this was Stryker's intention, knowing that even the adamantium bullets could not kill Logan). Gambit tries to get Wolverine to come with him, but he declines. Gambit wishes Wolverine good luck before departing, and Wolverine flees the scene as the ambulances and police arrive.

Note:

The film has several additional scenes during and after the credits. The first of these scenes plays a few seconds into the credits, and depicts William Stryker walking down a road. Due to Silverfox's order, the toes of his shoes are torn and bloody from walking for so long. A military vehicle drives up behind him and he is apprehended by military police for questioning about the death of General Munson. (Stryker murdered the general earlier in the film in order to protect his vendetta against mutants.)

Also Note:

Depending on which theater the movie was shown in, one of two possible endings then appears following the credits. In the first ending, Weapon XI's hand reaches out from the rubble of the nuclear complex to touch his severed head. The second alternate ending shows Logan drinking at a bar in Japan. The bartender asks if he is drinking to forget; Logan replies that he's drinking to remember.

My Comments:

Not bad at all.. Could be better though..

Was a little disappointed as I expected much more..

Being a follower of the X-Men series, I've watched all the instalments & I must admit that this one was not up to my expectations..

But on an encouraging note, this movie was not as good, as it was done by Fox & not Marvel..

Marvel's movies are blockbusters.. such as (Iron Man, The Hulk), and Fox's are always sub-par. Marvel uses good stories, acting, and smart witty scripts to keep us interested. Every half baked, killed off for the movie, or completely ruined character Fox throws in there just ruins the experience for a fan somewhere. Marvel may modernize the stories, but they respect the source material. Not only does that make comic fans happy, but the stories tend to make more sense, and have more relatable characters.

Give it back to Marvel, so we can get a decent movie!

Brian O'Conner, now working for the FBI in LA, teams up with Dominic Toretto to bring down a heroin importer by infiltrating his operation.

Synopsis:
Warning!This synopsis contains spoilers
After a successful run at hijacking fuel tanks on the highways of the Dominican Republic, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) leaves his girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and his gang, as he is now an international criminal. Eventually, Dominic's partner Han (Sung Kang) flees to Tokyo, causing Dominic to also flee. One day, in Panama, Dominic receives a phone call from his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster), who tells him that Letty was just murdered. Dominic returns to Los Angeles, California, to find out who murdered Letty. After Letty's funeral, Dominic asks his sister to take him to the site where Letty's accident occurred. At the scene, Dom finds traces of nitromethane residue that can only be purchased at one body shop in L.A.. At the body shop, he finds one of his old racing counterparts that, after being coerced, leads him to a man named David Park. Dominic finds Park and hangs him out of a window threatening to drop him and vowing to kill anyone that stands in his way of avenging Letty. He receives the information that only through a street race, arranged by Ramon Campos, can he gain access to the man responsible for Letty's death.

Meanwhile, Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) now an FBI agent, is assigned to track down a notorious drug lord named Arturo Braga. Brian, after chasing down a criminal on foot, receives information also leading to David Park. Both Dominic and Brian, having received the same information are led to the underground entrance race that guarantees them a spot on the team that traffics heroin across the United States-Mexico border. During the race, Dominic and Brian outlast all of their competitors until the two of them remain and head towards the finish line neck and neck, Dominic sideswipes Brian's car ensuring that he comes in first, securing his spot on the team so that he can seek justice on Letty's behalf. Having lost the race, Brian uses his influence at the FBI to ensure that one of the other members on Braga's team, Dwight Mueller, gets arrested for "distribution of methamphetamine," in order to usurp his spot of the team. At a party, Ramon Campos, Braga's right hand man, welcomes them to the team and gives them a GPS that will alert them to where they will begin their race. Dominic ends up in a confrontation with a racer identified as Fenix, the driver of the car that collided with Letty before firing the shot that killed her.

Dominic and Brian both receive the coordinates to meet with Campos and are transported, along with their cars by semi-trailer to the Mexican border to receive the heroin that they are to transport, from there they are to follow Fenix's lead to the other side through an underground tunnel so they aren't seen by the satellite images and forward looking infrared used to monitor the borders. After the transport, Dominic realizes that the drivers are thought of as disposable and that after successful trafficking of the product they are shot and killed in order to avoid paying them. Letty, having been in the same situation was the only driver to get away when they attempted to shoot her, it was the pursuit that led to the car crash and subsequent shooting causing her death. Dom anticipated the double-dealing because of the warning given by Gisele, Braga's liason, in the form of the Spanish phrase "vaya con dios", set his car to explode by discharging nitrous oxide with the spark from the cigarette lighter in his car after he learns from Fenix that he was responsible for killing Letty with no remorse. Brian hijacks one of the Hummers carrying the heroin, escaping the gunfire, and head back to the U.S., where Dominic learns that Brian was contacted by Letty who agreed to infiltrate and collect information leading to Braga in exchange for clemency for Dominic. Brian speaks to his superiors about a plan that he has devised to trade the heroin for Braga if they will pardon Dominic.

An exchange is arranged with Campos, 6 million dollars for the heroin, provided that Braga be the one to deliver the money personally. The FBI is poised to arrest Braga at the exchange site, however, Dominic and Brian both realize that Campos is in fact Braga before the FBI does and the raid is botched. Braga evades capture and flees over the Mexican border out of the FBI's jurisdiction. Brian and Dominic head after him on their own and find him in a cathedral praying for salvation. They kidnap Braga with intent to take him back to the United States where he can be tried and imprisoned for drug trafficking, but after having taken him captive they are chased by Braga's henchmen. The chase leads to the same underground tunnels that they went through in order to transport the drugs into the United States. Once on the United States side of the border, Dominic kills Fenix by crushing him with his car and Braga is finally apprehended by the FBI, as is Dominic.

Dominic is tried for his crimes and, though Brian appealed to the courts on his behalf, is sentenced to "25 years to life without the possibility of early parole." The movie concludes with Brian, Mia, Tego, and Rico racing towards the prison bus transporting Dom to the Lompoc Penitentiary.

My Comments:

Other than being impressed with the car stunts in the earlier part of the movie, the rest of the movie was kinda predictable..

Of course, being an all-time car crazed person, I just couldn't help but only have eyes for the beautiful fast cars in the movie.. LOL.. :P

My personal favourite among all the 4 flicks in the Fast & Furious series was still the third in the series - The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006).. which consisted of, what I considered, the installation which had the most impressive amount of car drifting stunts involved..

Thursday, 29th of October 2009 & Friday, 30th of October 2009.. Michael Jackson's This Is It movie! :)

Finally... This Is It!!! :)

I booked 3 tickets online a month ago for Michael Jackson's This Is It movie..

Hubby & Clement went to watch the 29th of October 2009's screening at AMK Hub & I went to watch the 30th of October 2009's screening at The Grand Cathay (Digital) yesterday..

What can I say.. I'm so moved & impressed!

This is a movie unlike no other..

This is a must-see for every MJ fan and even non-fans to understand why he was so popular and deserved every bit of the title King of the Pop.

Forever an amazing & a very dedicated performer; entertainer, an extremely talented & consummate artiste, a perfectionist, and a visionary..

The film's overflowing with his energy, passion, and dedication.

I was completely blown away and entertained from beginning to end.

His voice and his dance moves are top form and timeless.

He sang most of his greatest hits, even from the Jackson 5 era.

His voice sometimes showed his age, but his dance moves do not, at all.

Together with his selected dancers, they were smashingly awesome!

The talent, from the dancers to the musicians to the lighting and effects crew were just first rate all the way!

The entire movie was like a little family making a big project come true..

The concert would have been nothing but awesome!

If the rehearsals could be this good and engaging, one could only imagine what the concerts would've been.

It makes me sad when I see what a fantastic production this could've been to know that the world never got a chance to see it.

The intimacy of this footage makes you feel, not like you're in a concert, but like you're witness to very private performances.

You get to see first hand how involved MJ was (to every little detail of production and planning).

Lots of MJ songs and practice sessions... (Got me singing along & tapping my feet to many of them) :)

There was so much creativity, sweetness, professionalism, understanding, effort, energy in the film!

The professionalism and patience of ortega was outstanding, he was perfect for this whole production, the cast was phenomenal, MJ was awesome!

The young female guitarist was not just good looking, but crazily good with the guitar as well.

So were the vocalists..

Smooth Criminal, Thriller, The Earth Songsegments, were brilliant! but again, they're all very excellent.

I don't feel the film is exploiting his death in any way.

It's simply paying the tribute and gives fans something they deserve to see.

This film easily re-ignited my appreciation for the man, who was without a doubt one of the greatest entertainers of our time.

Michael Jackson
was the greatest dancer in the history of mankind.

This documentary shows that hours before his death, he remained the greatest dancer in the history of mankind.

He was a revelation, pure and simple.

We see—for the first time—MJ without a mask. I won't attempt to characterize this complicated, insanely talented, person, but basically he's painfully shy.

And he excelled at one of the most public vocations there is: performing.

And what made him so admirable, was despite the fact of him being such an amazing; worldwide well-known pop icon of all time, he's such a humble guy..

And the greatest achievement in Kenny Ortega's simple, elegant and respectful tribute is that it allows the viewer, without a shred of distraction, to witness the process of an artist.

If you're concerned that the film will be an act of gross exploitation and an attempt to squeeze every last dime in the wake of Michael Jackson's death, know this: I haven't the slightest doubt that Michael would have wanted his fans to see this footage.

This is a film about the process, nothing more.

We're just lucky that this process happens to revolve around the finest entertainer of our time.

If you're even the slightest fan, this is a must see.

If you're not, I dare you not to be won over.

Also, if you're looking for signs of fatigue from Michael Jackson, you will be disappointed.

In fact, if there's one thing that bothered me about the film, it's that Michael was in such outrageously great shape that it's angering to think he died so close to the finish line.

We don't have many great entertainers left in the world. And the fact that at 50 years of age, Michael blows the top 10 pop singers of today out of the sky, is rather remarkable.

Prepare for an informative, emotional and downright exciting concert-film. This is it will show the world that with all the noise, all the distractions, all the craziness: Michael Jackson still had it.

A really great movie which is a must see for everyone!

Even though you aren't a fan of Michael, you should go watch it & really love the man!

To me, Michael Jackson, whether dead or alive, will always & forever be the reigning king of pop and music!

And I'm certain I'm speaking on behalf of all his fans from all over the world! :)

It's All For Love, 28 October 2009

Author: L Hooper from United Kingdom

*** This comment may contain spoilers ***

A strong feeling of love towards myself, everyone around me and planet Earth is what I left the cinema feeling. Michael was alive again for those two hours. This Is It showcases the King of Pop at his finest.

As the lights blackened and the Columbia Pictures animation played, the theatre erupted with cheers of "I love you Michael" and "God bless you Michael". After the chaos died down the audience sat in awe as the King did what he did best; he thrilled us.

From the rocking tunes of They Don't Care About Us and Beat It(which I was particularly impressed with) to those real toe tapping hits such as The Way You Make Me Feel, Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin' Something to the beautifully emotional songs that really showcased Michael's ability as a singer such as Human Nature and I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Michael truly dominated the stage. Every single person in the theatre was singing along and clapping for and after every song. I was over the moon with the recreation of the Jackson Five seeing as The Love You Save is a touching one for me. The real fun came with the especially theatrical numbers that were Thriller and Smooth Criminal, both had me in fits of happiness. Then, after a dramatic and heart touching rendition of Earth Song, Man In The Mirror drew the whole show to its close, emanating love and Michael's passion for people to make a change.

I saw not one single thing, in my opinion, wrong with this film and I believe everyone will enjoy it. If you aren't a Michael Jackson fan, while you may not appreciate the significance of This Is It, you will sure as hell have a brilliant time. And if you are an MJ fan, you will truly appreciate the greatness and strong sense of meaning behind the final documentation of the true King of Pop's work, the legacy of Michael Jackson.

He is so talented and gracious and for as amazing and talented as he was he didn't even act all superior he was kind and loving... Oh and the guitarist are just wow.... You gotta see it in IMAX I know I wanna go back and see it in IMAX!!! At the end it was dedicated to his three kids....

Forever Michael, 28 October 2009

Fans around the world had a very sad day this year when the news of Michael Jackson's death was announced. Michael had inspired so many, wither it was dancing, singing, wardrobe, or just being a generous human. The thing that made Michael so special that many people don't realize why he was so special to so many, how many years Michael had been performing. Since he was a child, my grandparents, my parents and my sister and I were fans. 3 generations as I'm sure many families feel the same.

This Is It was supposed to be Michael's major comeback tour after years of hiding after all the child molestation trial drama. 50 sold out concerts in London, I was so excited and hoping he was going to possibly come back to the states for another world tour and was even looking up how much the tickets were. Unfortunately, Michael passed away just a few days away from performing.

This Is It documents the rehearsal footage of his future concerts. Ranging from a wide variety of his mega hits from his newest song This Is It going back to his roots singing "I Want You Back", "I'll Be There" and "State of Shock". Of course also performing all of the fan favorites from his Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous Albums as well. Watching this movie got me teary eyed as well as others in the theater when he performed both "Human Nature" and "I'll Be There", he still had his wonderful voice giving his all. Michael was an absolute perfectionist and his shows in this documentary as other describe how he knows his tune and his years of experience has helped them grow.

Also having little commentaries with the musicians and dancers, everyone so excited to work with Michael. You could tell this was the cherry on top of the sundae for them working with one of the world's greatest entertainers. The girl who was rocking out on the lead guitar was beyond awesome, my sister and I had our jaws dropped on how she just tickled those strings making those incredible sounds come out. The dancers were also just wonderful and had such energy and presence and would've done a terrific job.

All I can say is that This Is It would have been the ultimate concert. Michael really went all out for this concert with mini movies introducing his songs. He had a little Chicago gangsters clip with Humphrey Bogart and other gangsters chasing after Michael. Thriller was also such a show with the dancers rising from their graves and their costumes were awesome! Michael also did a very touching performance of Earth Song that would make anyone want to look at our Earth and want to make a difference.

To sum this up, this was a gift to Michael Jackson fans and was incredible to watch. Even if you're not a MJ fan like my boyfriend is, you'll still enjoy it, he was impressed on how dedicated everyone was and loved the music. This Is It should not be missed!

10/10

He was so busy having a good time in the play area that he was oblivious to the other younger babies (who were mostly sleeping) around him..

Hahaha! :D

As you can see in the photos, our church's creche rooms are very well-equipped & pretty.. :)

They are fully equipped with breastfeeding rooms, small beds; blankets; toys for babies, diaper changing area, small freezer for storing expressed breastmilk, hot water airpot, water flask, warmer, feeding chair.. :)

There are also creche ministry helpers who are also around to assist the mummies.. :) (Noticed the aunties wearing blue aprons in the above photos?)

Now you guys will understand why we, mothers, in our church really enjoy bringing our babies there..

(Sorry for the late updates.. Now then I realized that I've not mentioned about our church's facilities for our babies for the past 10 over months.. LOL.. :p)

So here's some other info about our church's creche rooms & children's church as well..

As you can see in the above photos, our church has provided creche rooms for babies, toddlers & children of different ages..

The creche room you see in the above photos, is one of the 3 rooms that cater specially for infants & babies age 0-12months..

As I'm still breastfeeding Jonathan, thus I've been assigned to the creche room (the 1 out of the 3) that has breastfeeding rooms provided.. (Noticed the breastfeeding rooms at the top left corner of the 3rd photo?) :)

The other 2 creche rooms are just as well-equipped & facilitated, however, only the above creche room has breastfeeding rooms attached..

There are also other creche rooms catering for babies of different ages..

There are 3 (like I've mentioned) for babies age 0-12 months, there are also creche rooms for babies age 12-24 months, children's church activities rooms for age 2-3 years old etc..

All the above rooms are open to parents to accompany their children during the church service..

We have children churches which caters for children 4-6 years old, 7-9 years old & 9-12 years old..

Each children church service will consist of praise & worship, Bible story-telling, hands-on-activities, light refreshments, handicraft sessions & activities based on different Biblical themes & topics each weekend etc..

How cool is that? :)

Generally an uneventful week for me, it has been..

Haha! Here I am, speaking in an unconventional way, in the likes of my favourite Jedi character - Master Yoda,

in Star Wars.. (Eh.. Where's my lightsaber?)

LOL.. :P

Yeah.. Apart from meeting up with my "brother" Kenneth for lunch this week & also had lunch with my immediate colleagues on Wednesday at Paragon's SUSHI TEI outlet,

the rest of the week was boringly uneventful.. :/

Sun Ho - Fancy Free MTV & Sun Ho Yeow Sun 何耀珊 with choreographer Marty Kudelka..

FANCY FREE LYRICS:

Woke up feeling like a millionaire,
Walking down the street with the wind in my hair,
All the boys stare, say I look so good,
No, I'm not cocky but I knew that they would,

Cause everywhere I go my life is a party,
I don't have a worry, the sun keeps on shining on me,
Look how it's shining on me, (Oh),
You can't tell me nothing, look out cause I'm coming,
The street is my runway and everyone's looking at me,
All of their eyes are on me, (All of their eyes are on me)
And I....

I feel so beautiful, (I'm lovely),
Can't no one tell me no (I'm fancy free),
My life's a circus show (It's lovely),
No matter where I go (I'm fancy free),

Dee, dee, dee, dee,
Dee, dee, dee, dee, dee, dee,
Dee, dee, dee, dee, dee, dee, dee,
I'm fancy free

Feels just like I'm on a shooting star,
Made my wish to be a super star,
If I'm wrong and dreams don't come true,
I'll just make today what I want to.

Have your say, you can't break my high,
You should join me on my carpet ride,
Let's play, what you say,
Say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

It's so easy,
See that's your problem right there,
You're too cool, (yeah, yeah)
I'm just trying to have fun, stop worrying so much,
And just follow me.

Cause I feel so beautiful,
Can't no one tell me no,
My life's a circus show,
No matter where I go,
I'm fancy free.

Wednesday, 14th of October 2009 - Hubby's 37th year old birthday! :)

Yeah.. Hubby has turned 37 years old! :)

To celebrate his birthday, I took leave on his birthday & intended to celebrate it alone with him..

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to bring our older son, Shawn Ethan, along on our lunch date.. :/

We left our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, with the babysitter for a few hours that afternoon..

We thought it was better that he remain indoors as he had just recovered from his slight fever & he could catch up on his much needed sleep.. :)

Thus, that afternoon, we drove to Holland Village where I treated hubby & Shawn Ethan to lunch at Amici Authentic Italian Restaurant

Check out their website at: http://www.amicirestaurant.com.sg/

The ambience was nice & cosy.. The food was delicious & the service was good.. :)

Hubby had their Aragosta Alla Griglia - Grilled whole green shell lobster served with extra virgin olive oil..

We also ordered their Risotto Di Mare - Fresh Seafood cooked with Italian rice & roma tomatoes..

I had their Linguine Di Gamberi Al Sugo Di Pomodoro - Crayfish and assorted seafood with linguine served in spicy tomato basil sauce..

Shawn had their Pizza Hawaii..

We were also served with their Award Winning Tiramisu cake (1kg), given complimentary on-the-house as our first visit bonus.. How sweet is that?! :)

On the whole, it was a very pleasant experience dining there & we truly enjoyed ourselves..

Here's a photo I took of hubby & Shawn Ethan (via my iPhone) while we were there..

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my BFF, Sherlin for giving me the promotion card to dine in this restaurant, which entitles us to a discount & also the complimentary Award Winning Tiramisu cake (1kg).. :)

Thanks a million, gal! :)

12th - 13th of October 2009 - Jonathan's 3rd visit to KK Hospital..

Being an extremely healthy baby for the past 10 over months, it was really unusual for our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, to behave unusual on Monday night..

He was perfectly fine until sometime around after 8pm, he started behaving unusually cranky..

He started crying from time to time for no rhyme or reason..

(We, of course, found it very unusual of him to do so as he has always been an easy baby to be taken care of since the day that he was born & he hardly cries much till this very day..)

We tried to pacify him everytime he started crying & even though he could be appeasable, he would start crying again after some time..

From 8plus that night he had been crying on & off till 11plus..

We felt something could be amiss, thus hubby & myself decided to bring him to visit a paediatrician in KK hospital's A&E unit..

That was his 3rd time there.. (1st time was when he developed a slight cough, 2nd time was when he fell down many months ago)

The weird thing was after consulting the doctor, she was not able to find anything wrong with Jonathan..

He seemed perfectly healthy..

To confirm it, she called upon a senior doctor to examine Jonathan & she too was not able to find anything wrong with him..

Hubby & I was not satisfied as we believed Jonathan would not have been crying for nothing..

Thus the doctors requested for the nurses to take a urine sample from him & send it for a urine test to see if there could be a urine infection or whatsoever..

After waiting for more than an hour in the observation ward, the nurses came back with the report that Jonathan's urine results were normal & he is perfectly fine!

Very weird indeed..

Hubby & I were still worried what could be wrong with Jonathan that he was crying & fussing that night (which was not his normal self)..

The doctor, seeing our disbelief, asked us to make a decision if we wanted to bring Jonathan home or stay the night in the hospital to observe him further..

Being worried, hubby & I decided to admit Jonathan into the hospital & together with him, we stayed the night in the hospital to observe him further..

For the 1st time in his little life, Jonathan developed a fever that night & the fever comes & goes..

I stayed up to watch over him while he slept in the children's ward that night..

Throughout the night, the doctors & nurses examined him, regularly checked on his temperature, blood pressure & administered medicine for his fever every 4-6 hours..

I was so worried that night but thank God Jonathan managed to sleep for several hours & he was feeling much better the next day after he poo-ed the next morning..

As he was behaving his normal active self the next day, other than the fluctuating fever he was having, the doctors' verdict was he could be discharged with no further tests done..

Yippee! Our little boy is fine now & can be discharged! :)

Thank God that I decided to have faith he will be completely healed of his fever cos' ever since he came home, his body temperature has been stable & his fever's gone!

Thank God our little boy's back to his usual playful self! :)

Jonathan has a new Fisher-Price educational toy.. :)

Hubby bought this Fisher-Price educational toy for our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, when we visited the new shopping mall - City Square on Sunday afternoon..

Our younger son, Jonathan Ezra Chua Xue Feng, just turned 10 mths old recently.. :)

Brought our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, for his regular check up at the Bedok Polyclinic yesterday..

As usual, he's perfectly healthy.. :)

Super healthy for the past 10 months & still going strong.. :)

Must thank God for everything.. :)

Hmm.. Let me guess.. 1 of the factors for him remaining healthy & only having a slight cough once for the past 10 months is because he is still on total breastmilk?

I'm wondering.. Most probably..

If it is so, then God, may I be able to breastfeed Jonathan as long as possible!!! :)

*As usual, I will post updates about his progress here soon*

Friday, 2nd of October 2009.. A busy day.. (updated)

After what happened to me, these were the many things I did that day..

1) I spent the whole morning creating a new email account in Gmail, changing all my sign-in email addresses & passwords for all my other websites such as for my facebook, friendster, blog account etc etc etc..

2) Called my credit card company & explained to them what had happened & to check with them if there were any illegal transactions done that day using my credit card number..

Thank God there wasn't any since my last transaction..

However, to play safe, they asked if I wanted to cancel/void my credit card & I agreed. They will be sending me my new credit card in a few days time..

3) Hubby informed our cg leader, Zhifu, about what happened & he helped me lots by informing all our members & alumni members about what happened..

(By then, several friends of mine has already started smsing me, asking me if my email account had been hacked as they had already started receiving those spam/fraud mails..)

4) Wrote in to Hotmail/MSN/Windows Live Support/ to explain to them what had happened & requested for their assistance & help ASAP..

5) Went to the nearby police post to make a police report.. However, the policeman mentioned that since the hacker had not committed any illegal transactions so far, nothing could be done..

Hubby said: "Isn't stealing my identity & attempting to solicit for money by pretending to be me illegal?"

As far as I know.. the policeman there was too lazy to do anything.. [Grrr.. Useless nut!]

6) Travelled down to City Hall where I went to the Citibank branch over there to inform the bank what had happened & to tell them to cease emailing anything to that email account & to update the bank to email all updates to my new Gmail account from now on..

Their service was excellent & they had their updates done in seconds..

7) After which, I headed to The Grand Cathay located at Dhoby Ghaut where I spoke to the customer service manager at The Cathay cinema & explained to her what had happened to me & that I was concern about whether my online transactions for the purchase of MJ's This Is It movie tickets would be affected & whether would I still be able to collect the tickets on the 29th of October 2009, even after I had my credit card cancelled/void..

The Cathay's service manager was even more helpful.. She said she would be able to give me the tickets there & then, rather than having to wait to collect them on the actual day of the movie!

Thus she issued me the tickets right on the spot!!! :D

SO.. Here's presenting the tickets to MJ's This Is It movie!!! :D

I was sooo happy!!! :D

She even gave me several copies of the promotional flier! :D

Here's how it looks like:

Pretty, ya? :)

More than 1,000 feared dead in major Indonesian quake... Samoa death toll nears 150 after deadly tsunami...

More than 1,000 feared dead in major Indonesian quake.. :(

A massive earthquake wreaked havoc on the Indonesian island of Sumatra Wednesday, with officials saying it could have killed more than 1,000 people as homes and buildings collapsed.

At least 75 people were confirmed dead after hospitals and hotels crumbled, and as fires raged in the coastal city of Padang, home to nearly a million people, in the wake of the 7.6-magnitude quake.

"People are trapped, hotels have collapsed, schools have collapsed, houses have collapsed and electricity has been cut off," Vice President Jusuf Kalla told reporters in Jakarta.

Health ministry crisis centre head Rustam Pakaya told AFP that a major city hospital was among the many buildings that had buckled.

"Houses and buildings have collapsed, causing thousands of people to be trapped inside in the rubble," Pakaya said.

Rescue teams and doctors have been rushed out overland and were expected to arrive in the city and nearby affected areas overnight, Pakaya added.

He said he expected the death toll to soar over 1,000 as rescuers reached the city, where communications and power had been cut off by the quake.

Three military transport planes have been prepared to deliver aid including tents, blankets and medicine, Disaster Management Agency spokesman Priyadi Kardono said.

"The effects of the earthquake could be as big as the Yogyakarta quake," he said, referring to a 2006 quake that killed 6,000.

Local media reported that panicked residents rushed from their homes during the quake, which struck off Sumatra's west coast at 5:16 pm (1016 GMT), 47 kilometres (29 miles) northwest of Padang.

The quake was followed by dozens of aftershocks, two of which were over 6.0-magnitude, Indonesian geophysics agency technical head Suharjono said, adding that damage was expected to be spread over a wide area.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) had put the quake at a magnitude of 7.9, but later revised it down slightly.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii initially put out a tsunami watch after the quake but later withdrew it.

The quake was felt in the capital Jakarta, 940 kilometres (585 miles) away, and sent frightened office workers streaming out of buildings in nearby Singapore and the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

"The shaking was the worst I had ever felt," Yuliarni, a resident of Pariaman district outside Padang, told TVOne news channel.

"Houses have collapsed, the lights and electricity were cut off... People were fleeing to higher ground and some were hurt," she said.

The quake caused a landslide that destroyed houses at Lake Maninjau, inland from Padang, local resident Hafiz told the channel, while the city airport was slightly damaged but was expected to reopen early Thursday.

Geologists said Padang, which lies near the colliding Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates, was vulnerable to more quakes and tsunamis.

"There will be aftershocks but it's difficult to predict whether there will be a bigger quake," Geological Disaster Mitigation and Volcanology Centre head Surono told AFP.

"There are three big volcanoes in West Sumatra -- Merapi, Talang and Tandikat. We fear that this quake might cause volcanic eruptions there," he said.

Experts have said the city is most at risk from a final segment along the zone shifting to unleash a massive amount of energy.

The zone's other segments have already cracked, including a large portion off Aceh, at the northern tip of Sumatra, which triggered the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that killed more than 220,000 people.

Indonesia's Welfare Minister Aburizal Bakrie said the government had released 100 billion rupiah (10.4 million dollars) in emergency aid to deal with the disaster, news website Okezone reported.

British-based charity Oxfam said it had already earmarked 200,000 pounds (320,000 dollars) for relief efforts, including the distribution of emergency shelters, hygiene kits and clothing.

"We had aid ready because this area of Indonesia is susceptible to this type of tragedy," said Jane Cocking, the organisation's humanitarian director.

"Communications with the quake-zone are difficult and we are hoping for the best but having to plan for the worst. We are pulling together a significant aid effort."

World Vision's Indonesian emergency head Jimmy Nadapdap said in a statement the charity would attempt to send out a disaster survey team to the affected area on Thursday morning.

"It is critical that we get people into the quake zone as soon as possible to find out what has happened," he said.

"If buildings have collapsed then people are likely to be in urgent need of food, water and especially shelter. The injured will also need medical assistance."

Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.

A quake on the main island of Java earlier this month killed 123 people.

Samoa death toll nears 150 after deadly tsunami... :(

Rescuers reached scenes of stunning devastation on Thursday after a killer tsunami obliterated Samoan island villages, killing at least 148 people and leaving scores more missing.

As distraught relatives picked through the rubble of homes and tourist resorts destroyed by Tuesday's 8.0-magnitude earthquake that triggered a tsunami, aid workers were left breathless at the catastrophe.

"The devastation was astronomical, worse than anything I have ever seen," said Peter Bendinelli, head of the non-profit group Caritas Samoa.

The death toll is expected to rise dramatically after the Samoan islands' worst quake in nearly a century unleashed walls of water that pounded the coast, echoing Asia's deadly 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. Country profile: Samoa

Survivors described seeing truckloads of bodies in Samoa, an idyllic Pacific holiday destination which counted 110 dead, and expected the toll to rise further as bodies are recovered from wrecked buildings and the sea.

"It's not paradise any more -- it's hell on earth," one survivor told Australia's Sky News as the morgue at Apia's hospital was forced to use a refrigerated shipping container to help handle overflow bodies.

Entire villages were laid to waste and the pristine white beaches that once wooed bathers were strewn with the mangled wreckage of buildings and cars as well as luggage, furniture and poignant personal items.

"We lost everything," said Meleisea Sa, a village chief in the decimated fishing hamlet of Poutasi, as villagers searched for loved ones and personal possessions in the twisted ruins of their homes.

"I must rebuild this, or I have nothing," he said as he salvaged parts of his ruined house near four generations of family graves completely destroyed by the waves. "I look at the water now and I am frightened," he told AFP. Recent major quakes, tsunamis

At least 31 were killed in neighbouring American Samoa and seven lost their lives when the tsunami hit Tonga, 1,000 kilometres (600 miles) away.

Looters roamed the devastated streets of the American Samoan capital Pago Pago in search of food and other items after 7.5 meter waves (25 feet) smashed homes and hurled cars into treetops.

Raiders were targeting liquor and cigarettes and other saleable items, but "were mainly taking food, frozen chickens and things like that," said local journalist Aufage Fausia. Witness account: Pamela Stephenson

Some 2,500 people were forced from their homes by the disaster and were being housed in relief shelters in the remote US outpost that President Barack Obama declared a major disaster zone.

Looters also struck in Samoa, where aid workers and property owners were defending what remained of their property from being ransacked. Related article: Looters roam streets

"We poured our life and our life savings into this place. I just can't watch it be taken away from me," said Chris Booth, who employed security guards to protect his ruined Sea Breeze Resort on Samoa's southern coast.

As aid planes arrived in Samoa from Australia and New Zealand, rescuers bringing food, clothing, medicine and fresh drinking water to survivors saw the full extent of the catastrophe.

Australian planes carrying search-and-rescue, medical experts and other items flew into the Samoan capital, Apia, to join the search for residents and tourists and help treat the waves of injured.

But getting enough aid to thousands of desperate survivors in such a remote spot is a tough challenge for rescuers, who warned it could take until "well into the weekend" to help everyone left homeless, hungry and thirsty.

As emergency supplies arrived in the worst hit areas, villagers chanced across the body of a missing woman and her baby granddaughter dumped in a bush by the water's terrifying force.

The devastated southern area of Samoa is home to about 70 villages and was also a popular tourist hot spot. Four Australians, two Koreans, one New Zealander and a British toddler were among the dead.

Tonga reported significant damage on the small island of Niuatoputapu with at least seven dead and three missing. However, other countries saw only large waves at worst despite a brief, Pacific-wide tsunami warning.

UNPRECEDENTED NUMBER OF SELL-OUTS REPORTED WORLDWIDE FOR FIRST SHOWINGS OF “MICHAEL JACKSON’S THIS IS IT”

Highly Anticipated Motion Picture Generates

Huge Demand Around the World

Online Ticket Services Report Hundreds Of Sold-Out Shows

in First Day of North American Advance Sales

More Than $1 Million In Ticket Sales In Japan Alone

"I've never seen anything like it in the 25 years I have been film buying," says UK Exhibitor

CULVER CITY, Calif., September 28, 2009 Sony Pictures Entertainment, in conjunction with Sony Music Entertainment, today announced that the first 24-hours of pre-sales activity for Michael Jackson’s This Is It has resulted in record-breaking sales throughout the world as fans secure the first tickets to the two-week, limited engagement of the highly-anticipated motion picture.

With reports still coming in from nations around the world, it is believed no movie in history has generated so many ticket sales so far in advance of its release.

In North America, online ticket sellers Fandango and MovieTickets.com report that there is extraordinary demand for the film with hundreds of showtimes already sold out after one day of pre-sales. Some 80% of all online ticketing service transactions were for the film, which will debut in some markets with special advance showings the evening of Tuesday, October 27 and will open worldwide on Wednesday, October 28. The film is directed by long-time Jackson collaborator Kenny Ortega.

Domestically, an unprecedented number of shows for the two-week engagement have sold out in the first 24 hours of ticket availability in locations from coast-to-coast, including such cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Nashville and New York, among others. Internationally, exhibitors from London and Sydney to Bangkok and Tokyo have experienced the same epic demand.

In London, Vue Entertainment's Film Buying Director Stuart Boreman said Michael Jackson's This Is It sold more than 30,000 tickets in its first 24-hours, setting the biggest ever one-day sales record in the UK, eclipsing advance buying for films including Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. "I've never seen anything like it in the 25 years I have been film buying," Boreman said. "It's a true phenomenon and sales show no sign of slowing down."

In the United States, more than 500,000 fans performed searches for showtimes on the official www.thisisit-movie.com website. Online buzz for Michael Jackson’s This Is It was 60 percent higher Sunday than for any other upcoming film.

Commenting on the extraordinary results, Rory Bruer, President of Worldwide Theatrical Distribution for Sony Picture Releasing said, “Michael Jackson’s fans all over the globe have enormous interest in this film and we can assure they will not be disappointed. This film delivers on everything they hope and expect to see. I think the initial sales activity we are seeing in the United States and United Kingdom to countries such as Australia and Thailand underscores the unique nature of this film, which is a special celebration of Michael and his music.”

In Japan, more than $1 million in ticket sales were recorded within the first 24 hours of their release, setting an advanced-sales record unmatched by any movie in history.

Staggering advance sales were reported in Australia, where tickets for Michael Jackson's This Is It purchased through Village Cinemas exceeded the lifetime pre-sales of such blockbusters as Transformers, and X-Men Origins.

In Bangkok, Thailand, fans lined up at box office ticket counters throughout the city, and by the end of the first day, all tickets for the first showings across Bangkok were sold-out.

In Los Angeles, at Regal Cinema's LA LIVE Stadium 14, fans began lining up on Thursday night for tickets to some of the city's first public showings, and within hours of Sunday morning's starting bell for advance pre-sales, the exhibitor reported selling out of all 3,000 of their seats for shows on Tuesday night October 27th.

Sell-outs at theaters in France are also being reported; thousands of fans lined up at The Grand Rex in Paris and quickly bought out the film’s first screening there. Record-setting sales also were recorded in Germany; hundreds of fans lined up outside one theater in Munich at midnight to await the opening of the box office. As one German exhibitor noted, "Something like this never happened before in Germany."

Record sales and sell-outs are also being reported in Holland, Sweden, Belgium and New Zealand, among other countries.

Moviegoers worldwide can get information for the two-week limited engagement by visiting www.thisisit-movie.com. For fans wishing to discover the closest theater playing the film near their home in North America, please call (877) 488-4258.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It will offer Jackson fans and music lovers worldwide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning this summer in London’s O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from March through June, 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show. Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at Jackson as he has never been seen before. In raw and candid detail, Michael Jackson’s This Is It captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius, and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show. Kenny Ortega, who was both Michael Jackson's creative partner and the director of the stage show, is also directing the film, which is being produced by Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega and Paul Gongaware. Executive producers are John Branca and John McClain. The film will be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Releasing. For more information about the film please visit www.thisisit-movie.com.

Sony Music Entertainment's Columbia/Epic Label Group will release a two-disc album "This Is It" featuring music inspired by the motion picture. The album will be available internationally on October 26th and in North America on October 27th.

I DETEST rude people..

I DETEST people who speak sarcarstically.. (Want to speak that way, then jolly well have the guts to say it to my face!)

I DETEST people who think I owe them the whole world just because of the fact that they had done me a favour before..

I DETEST people who have faces that look like it's been soaked in pickled juice everyday..

I DETEST people who carry their "black" faces everywhere.. especially to work..

I DETEST people who are very temperamental & inconsistent in their moods.. Their moods change like the weather.. 1 minute they happy, they're in a good mood, the very next minute, they are in a foul mood..

I DETEST people who are also inconsistent in their words.. Say a thing 1 minute, but say another the next minute..

I DETEST people who say 1 thing but do another..

I DETEST people who "puts words in my mouth".. Things I never said, they say I did.. WTF???!!!

I DETEST people who "act smart".. Like the saying in the Hokkien dialect goes.. "Smart enough can already.. Don't try to "act smart"..

I DETEST people who talk without putting themselves in other people's shoes..

I DETEST people who assume EVERYTHING when they actually don't know ANYTHING..

I DETEST people who say "somebody" said this & that when actually that "somebody" is nobody but they themselves.. (which leads to my next point..)

I DETEST people who lie..

I DETEST people who talk behind my back when they say they don't..

I DETEST people who only want things done their way..

I DETEST people who always try to explain themselves & want people to accept their explanation, YET do not bother to give others a chance to explain themselves & accept their explanations..

I DETEST people who are not correctable..

I DETEST people who only think bad of others..

I DETEST people who are ungrateful..

I DETEST people who DETEST ME..

People I detest, I always make it a point to remain distant from them..

I choose not to be close to them even if we are related or have to be related in anyway..

They will always be nothing but just acquaintances to me..

Singapore Symphony Orchestra Babies Prom - The one and only concert in Singapore specially tailored for babies! :)

Last week I happened to chance upon this poster informing about this coming December's SSO concert in Singapore.. for babies!!! :)

Here's the article abstracted from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra website:

Let the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and conductor Peter Moore take your babies and toddlers on a thrilling musical adventure like no other, where they will explore and discover the fun and fantastic world of classical music. The one and only concert in Singapore specially tailored for babies, the SSO Babies' Proms has won pride of place in the December diaries of many doting parents.

Featuring delightful excerpts from the great classics, the programme include popular classics such as Offenbach's Can-Can from the Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Thunder and Lightning Polka by Johann Strauss and Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride. The London-born Peter Moore, who is hosting the SSO Babies' Proms for the eighth consecutive year, has also conducted various SSO Young People's Concerts and Concerts for Children.

Peter Moore is the Principal Bassoon of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and is currently theDirector of Wind Studies and orchestral conductor at The University of Western Australia School of Music. He is also Musical Director and Conductor for the West Australian Youth Orchestra Association, where the training of young players and the presentation of education concerts and the Babies' Proms series is an important part of his life. His work in music was honoured in 2000 when the Australian Government bestowed upon him the medal of The Order of Australia (OAM).

The SSO Babies' Proms are suitable for children aged 6 and below. Each concerts lasts one hour. Tickets are required for children aged 2 and above. Pre-concert activities for toddlers will be held at 9.45am and 11.30am for the respective shows.

Hi-5! :)

Our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, has started learning to appreciate watching Hi-5 at this young age! :)

Hi-5

Fun for kids.

A program for young children that provides fun activities, entertainment and education in an exciting and colourful way.

Visit official Hi-5 site:
http://www.hi-5.com.au

He likes watching them singing & dancing.. :)

P.S.
As I was researching on this topic, I found out that there are actually 2 Hi-5's!!!

The Australian team..

& The American team..

The team that recently visited Singapore, was the American team, if I'm not mistaken..

Here's the origins of the group:

In 1998, television producer Helena Harris, creator of Bananas in Pajamas, created "Hi-5" when her two children outgrew Bananas. She and co-producer Posie Graeme-Evans decided the new show would be aimed at 2-8 year-olds, would include educational trends as fun and games, and would feature music and movement that would attract children's attention.

The auditions for the hosts and the eventual members that would make up the group were held in June 1998, with the first program broadcast in January 1999. Since then, the group has won five ARIA awards for "Best Children's Album" (in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004), won three consecutive Australian Logie Awards (the Australian awards for television performance and production recognition) for "Most Outstanding Children's Preschool Program" in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

To be very honest, I personally like the very 1st batch of Hi-5 Australian team members best..

They consisted of:

Hi-5 Original Cast
..

Kellie Crawford 1998 - end 2008 (Completed 10 series/420 episodes)
Nathan Foley 1998 - end 2008 (Completed 10 series/420 episodes)
Charli Delaney 1998 - early 2008 (Completed 10 series/420 episodes)
Tim Harding 1998 - 2007 (Completed 9 series/374 episodes)
Kathleen de Leon Jones 1998 - 2006 (Completed 8 series/330 episodes)

Former members' reasons for leaving:
In order, first to last:

Kathleen de Leon Jones: left following the birth of her first child with former Savage Garden member Daniel Jones in 2007

Tim Harding: left following a serious motorcycle accident in 2007

Charli Delaney: in February 2008 she left to pursue other interests in presenting work, and acting in film and television, in order to "challenge herself".

Kellie Crawford: left to pursue other acting opportunities and to settle down for family, announced in October 2008 that her last show would be at Carols by Candlelight on 24 December 2008.

Nathan Foley: left to concentrate on solo career. Announced in November 2008 that his last show would be at Carols by Candlelight on 24 December 2008.

What a pity.. :(

Baby Sign Language..

Years ago when our older son, Shawn Ethan, was still a baby, I remembered a couple friend of ours - Richard & Xanthe, did mentioned to us that they were attending Baby Sign Language classes..

They found it useful to learn Baby Sign Language so as to be able to communicate better with their then-baby daughter, Isabel..

Recently, 2-3 weeks ago, hubby's cousin, (my cousin-in-law), Denny, gave us a copy of Baby Sign Language Sing-A-Long vcd to let our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, watch & so far, he has shown some interest while watching it.. :)

I personally like it alot & I have learnt some of the Baby Sign Language from it.. :)

Thank you, Denny!!! :)

Monday. 21st of September 2009 - Hari Raya Public Holiday! :)

In the morning, hubby drove me & our 2 sons to my parents' place..

My mum & I had arranged for the piano tuner to be there at 11am to tune my piano..

Took these 2 photos of our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, while we were at my parents' place..

He looked so bored..

Hahaha!

After spending the morning there, hubby, myself & our 2 sons headed to Compass Point Shopping Centre

where we had our lunch at the Ajisen Ramen outlet there..

The Chasu Ramen & Seafood Ramen were delicious.. :)

& so were their Matcha ice-cream desserts! :d

After lunch, we went to the Kiddy Palace there

where we bought lots of baby stuff such as baby wipes, baby liquid detergent, etc etc etc..

While I was there, I came across this product by Palmer's which I bought..

I'm really curious if it works..

Although I do not have a lot of spider veins on my legs, but I did spot 1 or 2 & I want to try this product to see if it can reduce & prevent the appearance of them on my always-tired legs..

Hmm.. Shall try it & see.. ;)

FYI, it's not cheap though..

While we were at the shopping centre, there was a Chevrolet Roadshow going on there as well & guess what we saw on display?!

A CHEVROLET CAMARO!!!

Yeah.. For those who find it familiar, it's the model that was the Transformers character - Bumblebee in Transformers I & II! :)

What a beauty, isn't it?

After spending the afternoon at Compass Point Shopping Centre, we left for my aunt's place in Punggol, Edgefield Plains..

Hubby & I brought both our sons there to visit my grandparents.. :)

Sunday, 20th of September 2009 - Fuk Thak Chi Museum..

After our church service today, hubby drove me & our 2 sons down to Far East Square..

Hubby explained the reason why he decided to go there was because it was one of the places in the Central Business District area that was not crowded with people during the weekend..

I totally agree with him..

During weekdays, the place is always crowded with working executives, however, on Sundays & Public Holidays, the place is like a "ghost" town & you can hardly see anybody there at all..

I totally love & enjoy the peace & tranquility there on a quiet Sunday afternoon.. :)

It's such a wonderful experience; a great difference, compared to the hustle & bustle of the city area during a weekend..

We had our lunch at the Subway outlet there..

We had the whole place to ourselves as there wasn't anybody dining there at that time! :)

After a satisfying lunch, we passed by Fuk Thak Chi museum

which was located just beside the Subway outlet! :)

We decided to check it out! :)

Here's some information about the museum..

The Fuk Tak Chi Temple/Museum (Chinese: 福德祠) is the oldest Chinese temple in Singapore, built in 1824 by Hakka and Cantonese immigrants five years after the founding of the modern city in 1819. Dedicated to Tua Pek Kong, it belongs to the Shenist sect, thus catering to the religious needs of both Confucianists and Taoists.

The small shrine later also catered to the welfare of the large Chinese community by functioning as an association. In August 1998, the building was restored and converted into a museum with artifacts on the lives of early Chinese migrants in Singapore in April 1998. In 2000, it became part of the new Far East Square development.

This is just one of the historical places found in the Central Business District area.. :)

There are many more! :)

A tribute to Patrick Swayze (1952-2009) who passed away on the 14th of Sept 2009, after a long battle with cancer.

Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze, best known for his roles in the hit films "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, his publicist said Monday.

The 57-year-old heart-throb had died after suffering complications from the illness, Swayze's publicist said.

Swayze was diagnosed with advanced stage-four pancreatic cancer in January 2008, leaving him with only a one-percent chance of surviving longer than five years, according to medical experts.

Swayze had bravely fought the disease in the public eye, continuing to work despite cancer treatment and significant weight loss.

In January he slammed tabloid reporting of his illness in an interview with ABC television's Barbara Walters, where he bullishly declared that he was determined to beat his condition.

He told Walters he had tried to keep his illness secret but went public to protect family and friends after tabloids reported he was close to death.

"Hope is a very, very fragile thing in anyone's life and the people I love do not need to have that hope robbed from them when it's unjustified and it's untrue," Swayze said.

In May, Swayze's spokesperson condemned "reckless" reports that the star had died, saying he was alive and well and responding to treatment.

A lanky Texan with a dancer's easy grace, Swayze -- the son of a dance teacher and an engineering drafter -- had a string of hit films in the 1980s and 1990s. He was named "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine in 1991.

As a young man, he moved to New York City in 1972 for more formal dance training at the prestigious Harkness Ballet and Joffrey ballet schools.

He scored a small-screen success in the 1985 television mini series North and South, which was set in the American Civil War.

After years of roles on television and the silver screen Swayze shot to superstardom in 1987 with his film "Dirty Dancing" an international blockbuster in which he played a dancing teacher to a young wallflower who starts to bloom.

In "Ghost" Swayze starred opposite Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg in a film that won Goldberg an Oscar. In 1995, he took a turn in drag in "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar."

Swayze soldiered, on working through much of his illness, and spending time with wife Lisa Niemi, a dancer and actress.

While 2004's "Dirty Dancing 2" in which he had a small role, was not a hit, he just recently acted for five months in a television series "The Beast" in which he played an FBI agent.

"You can bet that I'm going through hell," Swayze told Walters in January.

"I'm at the beginning of my battle. And I expect it to be a long hard battle, one that I'm gonna win according to certain rules -- and the rules that the cancer isn't going away," he added.

Swayze said he had met the diagnosis with defiance.

To me, he will always be remembered as a "hero" for his fighting spirit!!!

Remembering the "911" attacks.. The day the world will never forget.. (updated)

Myself, together with my older son, Shawn Ethan & my father-in-law, we just finished watching the documentary programme on the September 11 attacks that happened exactly 8 years ago, on this very day, showing on History Channel on Starhub Cable TV ..

While we were watching, I was explaining to Shawn, what exactly happened then..

It was such a horrifying incident..

A shocking thing that shook the world..

No one can ever forget that day..

The day that everyone watched in horror as America's World Trade Center's twin towers burned & fell to the ground..

Twin towers of the World Trade Center burning

Image sequence of the attacks

A New York City firefighter looks up at the remains of the South Tower

A New York City fireman calls for 10 more rescue workers to make their way into the rubble of the World Trade Center

A solitary firefighter stands amid the rubble and smoke in New York City

The Pentagon
was attacked..

The Pentagon damaged by fire and partly collapsed.

When I checked out the death toll from the September 11 attacks, I was horrified beyond words..

There were a total of 2,993 deaths, including the 19 hijackers: 246 on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,603 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. An additional 24 people remain listed as missing. All of the deaths in the attacks were civilians except for 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon. More than 90 countries lost citizens in the attacks on the World Trade Center. In 2007, the New York City medical examiner's office added Felicia Dunn-Jones to the official death toll from the September 11 attacks. Dunn-Jones died five months after 9/11 from a lung condition which was linked to exposure to dust during the collapse of the World Trade Center.

NIST estimated that about 17,400 civilians were in the World Trade Center complex at the time of the attacks, while turnstile counts from the Port Authority suggest that 14,154 people were typically in the Twin Towers by 8:45 a.m. The vast majority of people below the impact zone safely evacuated the buildings, along with 18 people who were in the impact zone in the south tower. 1,366 people died who were at or above the floors of impact in the North Tower. According to the Commission Report, hundreds were killed instantly by the impact, while the rest were trapped and died after the tower collapsed. As many as 600 people were killed instantly or were trapped at or above the floors of impact in the South Tower.

At least 200 people jumped to their deaths from the burning towers (as depicted in the photograph "The Falling Man"), landing on the streets and rooftops of adjacent buildings hundreds of feet below. Some of the occupants of each tower above its point of impact made their way upward toward the roof in hope of helicopter rescue, but the roof access doors were locked. No plan existed for helicopter rescues, and on September 11, the thick smoke and intense heat would have prevented helicopters from conducting rescues.

A total of 411 emergency workers who responded to the scene died as they attempted to rescue people and fight fires. The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) lost 341 firefighters and 2 FDNY paramedics. The New York City Police Department lost 23 officers. The Port Authority Police Department lost 37 officers, and 8 additional EMTs and paramedics from private EMS units were killed.

Cantor Fitzgerald L.P., an investment bank on the 101st–105th floors of One World Trade Center, lost 658 employees, considerably more than any other employer. Marsh Inc., located immediately below Cantor Fitzgerald on floors 93–101 (the location of Flight 11's impact), lost 355 employees, and 175 employees of Aon Corporation were killed. After New York, New Jersey was the hardest hit state, with the city of Hoboken sustaining the most deaths.

Weeks after the attack, the estimated death toll was over 6,000. The city was only able to identify remains for about 1,600 of the victims at the World Trade Center. The medical examiner's office also collected "about 10,000 unidentified bone and tissue fragments that cannot be matched to the list of the dead". Bone fragments were still being found in 2006 as workers were preparing to demolish the damaged Deutsche Bank Building.

My heart still goes out to all the pitiful, helpless & innocent victims who had lost their lives at ground zero that day..

My heartfelt condolences to all their families, relatives & close friends whom I believe are still mourning them after all these years..

And I salute in honour the 411 emergency workers from The New York City Fire Department (FDNY), The New York City Police Department, The Port Authority Police Department, and the 8 additional EMTs and paramedics from private EMS units who died as they attempted to rescue people and fight fires at ground zero..

Myself, together with the whole world, are still praying that nothing like that will ever happen on this earth ever again..

Conversation with my son, Shawn Ethan.. ;)

Our older son, Shawn Ethan & I happened to be watching a travel documentary programme which was showing on Starhub Cable TV when this conversation started..

Me: "Eh.. Where is this place? Looks very nice.." (Was referring to the country the travel documentary was filmed in..)

Shawn Ethan: "Taiwan lah.. Taiwan, China.."

Me: "Is it? Wah! Shawn, you're so clever.."

Me (musing to myself): "Very nice place.."

Me:
"Shawn darling, do you know that "Kor kor" (meaning older brother in Hokkien dialect) Clement just came back from Japan?"

Shawn Ethan: "Japan?"

Me (dreamily) : "Yup! Japan.. Also a very nice place.. Mummy also want to go to Japan someday.. My dream holiday.."

Shawn Ethan: No response..

Me:
"You leh, Shawn?.. Where you wanna go for a holiday? "

Shawn Ethan : "I want to go to a poor country.. "

Me: "HUH?!" (very surprised by his answer..) (stares at him in surprise with a puzzled look on my face..) "Why you wanna go to a poor country?"

Shawn Ethan:"I want to go to a poor country like "Gu Gu" (my paternal auntie in Chinese) like that.. Cos' I want to go & feed the poor children porridge.."

Me: "Oh.. Like Cambodia huh..?

Shawn Ethan: "Ya.."

Me: "WOW!" (So overwhelmed & lost for words..)

Me: "Shawn.. You so good boy.. So you want to be a volunteer like that huh?"

Shawn Ethan:
Nods his head and replies.. "Ya.."

At that moment I felt so proud of him..

He has even bigger dreams than his mother..

I felt so ashamed of myself suddenly..

Hahaha! :P

Tuesday, 8th of September 2009.. On leave today! :)

Yeah!!! So happy to be on leave this day!!! :)

Hubby & I brought our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, for his 9 month's assessment check up at Bedok Polyclinic in the morning.. :)

The pediatrician confirms he is doing great as usual.. Other than a little bit of earwax found in his right ear.. He is in a perfect state of health as he has been for the past 9 months.. :)

Thank God for blessing us with a super healthy boy! :)

We left the clinic around 1pm, after collecting the doctor's prescription of some olive oil eardrops to be applied to his right ear for a few days, to ensure the bit of earwax be removed completely.. :)

After spending half of the day with our baby, Jonathan Ezra, hubby & I left him with the babysitter while we went on a date.. :)

Firstly, we headed down to Suntec City Mall where we had our lunch date at Tony Roma's Suntec outlet.. :)

As hubby wanted to try their ribs, he ordered their Famous Ribs & Fish Fillet combo meal

while I ordered their Famous Ribs & BBQ Chicken combo meal

(Yeah.. AGAIN!.. Hahaha!) ;p

Lips smacking delicious, as usual! :)

After lunch, we strolled down to Millenia Walk Shopping Centre

where hubby ordered 2 scoops of Swensens ice-cream along the way..

Peanut butter & Mocha flavoured!

Yummy! :d

We also strolled down to Marina Square Shopping Centre

where I purchased a pair of Watermelon Pink Mary Janes flats

from the Crocs

store there..

Love them! :)

We also tried the on-the-go neck & shoulder massage service at the Kenko Reflexology & Spa (Fish Spa) shop there..

Was tempted to treat myself to the fish spa again..

But as we've tried it before, we decided to give it a miss this time round..

After spending a relaxing afternoon together, hubby & I then headed back to pick our younger son, Jonathan Ezra, from the babysitter's.. :)

Baby Ian.. :)

Last weekend, unlike the usual, we didn't travel to many places in particular..

Other than visiting Parkway Parade to purchase a few necessities, such as toiletries, developed some recent photos from my camera's memory card, purchased a Sandisk 8GB thumbdrive, etc..

We spent most of our time resting at home as hubby was feeling a little under the weather with fever & flu..

On Sunday, we attended hubby's cousin's baby's (which means he's hubby's nephew la) 1st month's buffet lunch celebration @ their semi-detached residence located in Serangoon..

Baby Ian is sooo cute!!! :)

I took these photos of him via my iPhone while we were there.. :)

His proud parents - Denny & Iris also gave us a box of baby 1st month's cake & sweets the week before..

The card & magnet they gave us were very beautifully made by them..

The card..

The magnet..

Happy 1 month old birthday, baby Ian!!! :)
