Kampong Glam area.. :)

Visited & strolled down Kampong Glam area yesterday afternoon.. :)

Kampong Glam is well-known for its many landmarks there & one is none other than their ever-popular Masjid Sultan Mosque, located at No.3 Muscat Street.. :)

This beautiful mosque - The Sultan Mosque was named after the first Sultan of Singapore, was built with a SGD3,000 grant from the East India Company. It is the largest mosque in Singapore and the present building was constructed in 1928. With its massive gold-topped dome and spacious prayer hall, the mosque has one particularly interesting feature--the base of the dome is made up of glass bottles.

Just beside Masjid Sultan Mosque, was the Malay Heritage Centre, located just a street away, between Kandahar Street & Aliwal Street..

Had never visited the Centre before, thus I went in to take a look & was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful & peaceful the place is.. :)

Here are a few photos I took of the place while I was there.. :)

It so happened that there was also a Pasar Malam going on along Kandahar Street during this period of the fasting month.. :)

I couldn't resist a cup of Icy Chendol on the hot sunny afternoon.. ;d

It was delicious! :D

After which, I strolled down Bussorah Street..

I really like the place cos' as I was strolling down the lane, I felt as if I was not in Singapore anymore..

You will understand what I mean when you are there.. ;)

Little pretty shophouses lined both sides of the street.. :)

Stumbled by chance upon this shop called Children's Little Museum @ 42 Bussorah Street.. :)

There were also many other interesting shops located along Bussorah Street, however, due to the sudden downpour, Clement (who came to meet me later) & I stopped by this backpacker's cafe for a drink while waiting for the rain to stop..

The name of the cafe was Sleepy Sam.. :)

It has a very nice, cosy, dim ambience.. :)

"Uncle" Clement on the phone.. :P

We also stopped by OBJECTIFS

& strolled down Haji Lane..

I also dropped by the National Library Building along Victoria Street that afternoon

& "bumped" into my friend, Angeline, there.. :)

Sorry, didn't get a chance to take photos of all the dishes above.. :P

Too busy with da boys.. :/

After our lunch, both boys enjoyed themselves at the Changi Games 2010 held at Terminal 3's Departure Hall.. :)

Here are some photos I took of them while they were there..

Friday the 13th.. ;)

Last Friday, which also happened to be Friday the 13th, I visited White Sands National Library

to return my library book which I've finished reading & also borrowed another while I was there..

I borrowed Roald Dahl's Book of Ghost Stories.. :)

So far it has proved to be very entertaining & creepy.. :) Hehe.. :)

To emphasize on how "inauspicious" the day was, I chanced upon an interesting sight while I was on my way to the library that afternoon..

I spotted 13 black crows, all perched in a row, by the canal, that afternoon!

What an amusing sight! ;D

Thank God my dad has been discharged from the hospital yesterday! :)

When he was admitted into the hospital 2 over weeks ago due to his prolonged cough, the doctor found some water in his lungs..

He was then treated using many methods, such as, being administered to with antibiotics... having water drained from his lungs via a thin tube inserted into his sides... & lastly, having a simple surgery done to completely remove all the unwanted water in his lungs...

He is doing fine now.. :)

Thus the doctor says he can be discharged from the hospital, however, he has been instructed to concentrate on recuperating at home for the next 3 weeks & given leave from his work/business till then..

He was happy & relieved to be discharged.. :)

We went to fetch him home from the hospital after he was discharged yesterday afternoon.. :)

I am a snacks junkie.. :P

Bought these at Tiong Bahru Plaza's Yamakawa Japanese Snack shop 2 days ago..

Japanese Yoghurt flavoured drink - Calpis Lacto

(It came with a mobile phone strap figurine with each bottle.. There are six different designs of figurines in all..)

& "Tabekko Dobutsu Butter" biscuits! :d

Movies & good food.. 2 of the weekly must-haves in my life.. Wahaha! :P

Watched Dragonball: Evolution (2009) on DVD early this week..

Yeah.. We had the DVD for sometime but have not watched it till this week..

We have several more DVDs at home which we have not watched too..

With the piles of DVDs we have at home, we can easily start a DVD rental business with them! ;p

Possibly more than a hundred of them!

Wahahaha! :D

Well.. Back to the movie.. I must say I was pleasantly surprised that it was very entertaining & impressive with lots of martial arts moves..

Me being a fan of the comic since I was a kid, I was impressed that the movie was based very closely to the comic novel - Dragon Ball Z..

The film also had the same anime style of fighting in Dragon Ball Z..

I enjoyed the movie very much & needless to say, am really glad the movie was directed by James Wong, produced by Stephen Chow, theme song of the movie was sung by one of my all-time favourite Japanese singer, Ayumi Hamasaki! :)

Also caught 88 minutes (2007) on Star Movies this week..

Now this is 1 movie all Al Pacino's fans should not have missed..

The veteran actor is always as good as he is.. as engaging as always..

This suspense thriller is really good & keeps you engaged, excited & guessing till the very end! :)

Ok.. now let's talk about food.. Yeah.. ;d

we checked out this restaurant - Different Taste @ 275 Thomson Road #01-04 Novena Ville on Sunday evening..

They have 4 outlets in Singapore & this outlet we visited in Novena Ville was opened on the 19th of May 2010..

This outlet was relocated from Ten Mile Junction..

Their restaurant serves really tasty dishes & at very reasonable "zhi char" prices too! No service charge & no GST too!

Really a must-try! :)

Check out more details at their website: http://www.differenttaste.com/

Another place which one must also try their food is Rabbit Brand Seafood Restaurant..

I believe lots of people know about this restaurant..

They have 3 outlets.. 1 in Lucky Plaza, Orchard Road, 2nd outlet at Circular Road, & another at Joo Chiat Road..

Together with 2 of my close friends - Vivien & Vincent, we visited their outlet at Lucky Plaza, Orchard Road, on Wednesday afternoon.. :)

It was my 2nd or 3rd time there..

We had 1 of their set lunches which consisted of Hor Fun/Udon, Shark's Fin soup & White Fungus Sweet Soup.. :p [an infinite apologies to the poor sharks here! :(]

I must add that I hardly eat Shark's Fin though.. :p

My only consolation is.. at least with me eating Shark's Fin that day, you poor sharks didn't die in vain.. :p

Most of the set lunches (consisting of different dishes) only costs $5.50 each! :)

The food there was cheap & good! :)

Random photos.. ;p

Shawn Ethan enjoying himself at his school's 25th anniversary carnival held on 31st of July 2010, from 9.00am to 4.00pm.. :)

Our family was there & we enjoyed ourselves at the carnival too..

Took many photos while we were there.. But too lazy to upload so many here.. LOL.. :P

So only selected these 2 to post here.. :P

Photo of Jonathan Ezra taken on the 31st of July 2010..

He was sitting on the couch & daydreaming when I took this snapshot of him..

Wahahaha! :D

I like this blue pouch Mabel Eva gave me a few weeks ago..

It's in my favourite color.. :)

She also gave me the Mickey Mouse mobile strap (which you see hanging from the pouch in the photo below)..
She bought it from Tokyo Disneyland years ago..

I also adore the golliwog mobile strap which I purchased sometime last week.. ;)

Purchased a similar one for her too! ;)
