Movies I've watched this week.. INCEPTION is a MUST-WATCH! :)
Inception (2010)
Watched Inception at Cathay Downtown East yesterday afternoon!
Woo hoo!
Rated as one of the best movies of the 21st century! This is 1 movie that one should never miss!I was looking forward to it.. It was supposed to be released much earlier in the US but was delayed due to various reasons..
It's currently top in the US box office & it's not surprising why it is.. :)
The movie is flawless! :)
Christopher Nolan's a genius..
The plot, the storyline, the effects, the actors, the soundtrack.. all were exceptionally good! :)
The directing was outstanding!
Undisputably rated 5 stars! :)
Here's a very good review for your reference.. (which I absolutely agree with the reviewer!)
Sci-fi perfection. Nolan's best and a truly ORIGINAL film., 15 July 2010
Author: del91 (IMDB.com)
I'm nearly at a loss for words. Just when you thought Christopher Nolan couldn't get any better than "The Dark Knight", he outshines himself there and continues to deliver another masterpiece, one with so much power and rich themes that has been lost from the box office for several years. Questioning illusions vs reality usually makes the film weird, but Nolan grips your attention like an iron claw that you just can't help watching and wondering what will happen next. That is a real powerful skill a director has. No wonder Warner Bros. put their trust in him, he is THAT good of a director, and over-hyping a Christopher Nolan film, no matter what the film is about, is always an understatement instead of an overestimate like MANY films before.
Not since the eras of Stanley Kubrick, Andrei Tarkovsky and Alfred Hitchcock has there been a more brilliant director than Christopher Nolan. He is, undoubtedly, one of THE most brilliant and gifted Hollywood filmmakers in history. Filmmakers like him come but just once in a lifetime. He has the ability to seduce our eyes, ears and most importantly, mind, and then delivers what he intends to deliver in full blast. Rarely have blockbusters have the gall to deliver such amounts imagination and intelligence at the same time. And yes, it is similar to the excellent anime film "Paprika" in the whole "invading dreams" plot, but the similarities end there as Nolan brings the film to a whole different level.
Visuals and intelligence rarely come together in movies at the same time, it's either all-visuals-no-smarts ("G.I. Joe", "Transformers") or the exact opposite ("Doubt", "Invictus"). In this film the excellently directed action sequences combined with immensely groundbreaking and jaw-dropping visual effects are combined smoothly with a heavy dose of intelligence and believability.
Although having an ensemble cast and financed by a Hollywood giant studio (Warner Bros), this film is a very personal film for Nolan, he wrote the film as well as directing it, and as you watch the film you get many glimpses of Nolan's perplexing, increasingly imaginative thoughts and dreams in the dialog that he writes and the plot that he sets up. Ideas have never felt more interesting and put to good use than in this film. This film is NOT for the popcorn muncher, rather it is a film for thinkers. Honestly I can't explain the plot for fear of spoiling the movie for you readers. Even the slightest hint will ruin the experience. The viewer will walk out of the cinema feeling dazed, confused and ultimately breathless. It's like a puzzle, both physically and mentally, and you have to pay attention throughout the film for the clues. However Nolan controls the spectacle of the film and is careful not to let it overwhelm the film's humanity, and this is where "Inception" shines. It is a very deep film that will have one thinking and asking questions for years to come. That's right, years.
Once the film ends, you'll want to watch it again, for there's something new every time. This is a film that requires multiple viewing for someone to truly comprehend the film's ambiguous themes, and will be discussed by many in the future. This is an original film, no adaptation, no sequel/prequel, no remake/reboot, which is extremely refreshing having gone nearly three years of mostly unremarkable visual effects roadshows ("Avatar" be damned).
Of course, a film is not complete without the actors. Leo DiCaprio delivers an Oscar worthy performance, similar but better than his previous effort "Shutter Island". He shows glimpses of a flawed, grim, fragile man, who has knowledge about everything else but yet can't seem to come in grips with himself and his demons. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Dileep Rao, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Michael Caine, Marion Cottilard, Pete Postlethwaite, Lukas Haas... Nolan really brings out the best in this unusual yet extremely talented group of supporting actors who make their roles their own.
Nolan is of course, a master behind the camera, a real virtuoso when it comes to film. His direction is taut, focused, gripping, and extraordinarily fascinating. The detailed and complex original script is no surprise from Nolan, considering the fact that he turned Batman the superhero into pop-culture art two years ago ("The Dark Knight"). The action sequences are unique, exciting and fresh, something absent from the cinema which has since been interested at things popping towards the screen and stuff blowing up every two milliseconds. The visual effects are awesome and imaginative, and best of all they do not bring down the movie's quality one bit, rather it makes the movie more fascinating to watch. The cinematography is absolutely, beautifully shot, so we can see the action and emotion in all their glory. Production design is top notch, with terrific design of sets and locations. Hans Zimmer's complementing music score is simply outstanding, and knowing the man, that's really all I have to say. Together all of these elements combine to deliver a mesmerizing movie experience like no other this year.
Christopher Nolan has once again outdone himself. He truly is a gifted filmmaker, arguably the most imaginative in Hollywood today. And "Inception" can proudly stand alongside "Blade Runner" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" as science-fiction masterpieces that push the boundaries for movie making and become a different experience altogether.
There are two types of films: the crowd-pleasing blockbuster and the intelligent indie/art film. Nolan has combined two of these tropes together into one exceptionally brilliant package, pulling off that rare, now nearly-extinct Movie Magic that has since been wiped off the planet by sequelitis and reboots. Movie of Summer 2010? Movie of 2010? Heck this is possibly the first masterpiece of the decade!
Missing this film and not getting the film's point is a crime.
Overall value: 10/10 (Exceptional)

Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief (2010) on DVD this week..

I must say I was also quite impressed with this movie as I thought it was just another "teenage" film, similar to the likes of Harry Potter & its series..
Well, after watching it, I changed my mind & I must say that I was pleasantly surprised..
It was an enjoyable & entertaining movie to watch & (in my opinion) it's even better than the Harry Potter series which I've followed..
It makes me wanna go read the other 4 books in the series! :P
There are altogether 5 of them in the series..
Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief (2005)
Percy Jackson & the Sea of Monsters (2006)

An extremely rude, stuck-up, bitchy ex-colleague who's (so coincidentally, such misfortune!) also residential block neighbour - Jena Yo
Btw, both her daughters are just as rude, disrespectful and stuck-up.. just like their mother..
I don't know if any of you guys have ever experienced situations such as when you smile at/greet a neighbour or a colleague or a classmate/schoolmate, and the other party simply ignores you, pretending they did not/could not see and hear you, treats you as if you are invisible & simply walks away..
You'll feel so embarrassed; insulted and you tell yourself that since they treated you this way, so rudely & without respect, you would never ever want to greet them or have anything to do with them ever again, right?
I believe some of you know what I mean & I can guarantee that many have experienced such a situation for themselves before..
Well, it happened to me quite a long time ago when I smiled at/greeted this bitch as we happened to be waiting at the lift lobby & she was so rude & disrespectful as to ignore me totally, even though we were colleagues then!
So I told myself, "Fine.. From then onwards, do not bother to greet this bitch ever again & pretend I do not know her & ignore her as well.."
Tit for tat..
I've also observed & noticed that this bitch and her daughters also do not smile at, greet, talk or chat with ANY other neighbours in the neighbourhood as well, despite residing there for so many years..
So what if this bitch's family is quite well-to-do?! If they are so wealthy, then they should just go purchase a residence at Sentosa Cove & stay out of this neighbourhod & never to return..
(By the way, my family is quite well-to-do too but we never behave this way..)
No one in the neighbourhood seem to like them anyway..
This bitch is also extremely rude at her workplace..
When she talks, she simply can't speak properly to people..
She talks like as if she wants to pick a fight; like as if the entire world owes her something..
To put it simply.. She barks..
When she needs help from us or our supervisor, relating to her work..
She pretends to be nice & talks nicely to us.. So low-down, super downright fake~!
When we are done helping her, she's so bloody rude as to not even bother to thank us personally for the help we rendered her..
And if the job happens to not turn out the way she expects it to, she got the bloody cheek to confront us, accusing us of not doing a good job & demanding an explanation from us!
Crazy bitch!!!
Hey bitch! We don't owe you a bloody thing! We helped you just for the sake of the fact that our supervisor instructed us to & we don't get a single cent or credit for the job which is supposed to be yours..
You get the credit & commission for the job while we do the dirty work! Who do you think you are?! And you still have the audacity to dare scream into our faces for an explanation?!
I am so damn happy I am no longer working in the same company as she is now! :D
So many times I was so tempted to walk up to her ugly, tanned, forever-sulking, heavily made-up, big, fat face to give her a big tight slap!
It is no wonder that her Indian ex-husband left her & her 2 daughters for his mistress then & from what I heard, they are happily married with a son now!
(There was once her vehicle got towed away by LTA.. It happened right in the middle of the carpark.. Mike even took photos & got it down on video via his mobile phone.. LOL..
We were gloating over it.. :P
She's damn lucky we didn't send the video to STOMP.. :p)
You all must be thinking we're mean and nasty, right? Well, that's because she's extremely rude, mean & nasty in the 1st place! She deserves it!
You all must be wondering how come I'm only blogging about her now when I've already resigned from my previous company 3 months ago & did not mentioned about her when I was working there then..
Well.. I have not blogged about her before, until now, because I could not be bothered with such a low-class, alcohol-intoxicated, cigarette-smoke-infested, rude, proud, obnoxious bitch, like her then.. until I was reminded of how detestable she is when I spotted her at my residential lift lobby recently..
I feel really bad for my sweet, over-friendly & overly-eager Shawn Ethan cos he, having seen her before, (we told him who she is), he greets her when he spots her at my residential lift lobby or the car park..
Just this weekend, he spotted her in the car park & he happily greeted her by shouting: "Hello Auntie Jena Yo!"
And guess what, this bitch just turned & looked at him, without a single word or facial expression, turned her face away & walked off!
What a bitch!
And by the way, it's not the 1st time this poor boy has been so nice as to call or greet her and get ignored everytime.. It's been many times till I feel so sorry for him..
Mike asked him: "Eh.. Shawn, don't you feel embarrassed that Jena Yo ignored you when you greet her?"
Here's his reply: "No lah.. Grandma tells me I must be kind.."
WOW!
I told him: "Shawn, you are very nice.. As for me, when people are nice to me, I'll be nice to them.. But when people are not nice to me, I won't and will never be nice to them.."
I wanted to instruct Shawn to never greet "aunties" like her who are so rude & such bad role models..
Now I understood why her 2 daughters are so rude & disrespectful to people as well..
That's because they are not taught & brought up with proper family upbringing that teaches proper manners, that's why..
Anyway, fortunately, we will not be seeing them around very much longer as my family & I will be shifting to our new residence, either sometime end of this year or early next year! :)
Well.. at the meantime, she better not ever offend me or else......
Muahahaha!!!
I know which unit she resides in.. Where her mum stays.. Which (new) car she drives.. Who are her customers.. And of course, which company she works for...
My blog header is not there for nothing...
Don't Mess With Me......
Muahahaha!!! ;D

Muahahaha!!! ;D

Thank God for his all-time protection over our family! :)
God is good to us all the time & all the time, God is good to us..
He always protect me & my family all the time..
Jonathan Ezra is now 19 months old & SUPER active, running, climbing, etc..
We always have to keep a very watchful eye on him, ensuring that he does not hurt himself in anyway in the midst of all his activities..
He bumped himself onto the edge of the bed last Friday night while attempting to climb it..
Our little boy received a tiny bruise at the corner of his left eye in the process..
Thank God he didn't injure his left eye in the process..
Thank God for his all-time protection..
Our little boy is very cheeky & he does not learn his lessons ever..
Yesterday he climbed into the driver's seat & thought he could drive off with the car!
Wahahaha! :D
But of course, the car won't budge as the car was parked in the car park & the car keys are with hubby!
Wahahaha! :D
Look! Here's the little culprit, caught in the act! (The tiny little bruise at the corner of his left eye is so slight, it's hardly noticable..)

Kinda boring week but had more rest than usual.. :)
For the past week, I spent most of my week resting at home as I had a sore throat on Wednesday & it escalated into a dry cough & a runny nose on Thursday..
However, thank God, I'm feeling much better now & other than the occasional runny nose.. I'm perfectly fine.. :)
During those 2 days when I was not feeling well, he bought me 6 big bottles of Chrysanthemum Tea & Winter Melon Tea, a box of Strepsils Lozenges & breakfast early in the mornings, without me even mentioning anything!
On Tuesday, I met my mum at Sengkang, Compass Point Shopping Centre,
where we also had our lunch there..
We did a bit of grocery shopping for my grandparents there and from there we took a bus to my uncle's residence @ Rio Vista Condominium,
where my maternal grandfather is recuperating, after having been discharged from the hospital during last weekend..
We spent the afternoon there till the evening, before we headed back to our respective homes.. :)
I managed to visit the National Library at Pasir Ris, White Sands Shopping Mall again yesterday.. :)
Was there to return my book & of course, borrowed another..
Here's the book which I've borrowed & am currently reading.. :)
Sherlock Holmes - The Complete Novels and Stories Volume II
by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Yup! I am so into the case stories of Sherlock Holmes these days.. ;)
I have always love detective stories, crime stories, murder cases, mystery, thriller, horror, suspense, science-fiction, etc etc etc. since I was a kid.. ;)

The Karate Kid (2010)
The Karate Kid, known as The Kung Fu Kid in China and Best Kid in Japan and South Korea, is a 2010 martial arts remake of the 1984 film of the same name.Directed by Harald Zwart, produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, the remake stars Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Principal photography for the film took place in Beijing, China; filming began around July 2009 and ended on October 16, 2009. The Karate Kid was released theatrically in the United States on June 11, 2010 and Singapore a day earlier on June 10, 2010.
The plot concerns a 12-year-old boy from Detroit who moves to China with his mother and incurs the wrath of the neighborhood bully. He makes an unlikely ally in the form of his aging maintenance man, Mr. Han, a kung fu master who teaches him the secrets to self-defense.
Once again, I want to say a big "thank you" to my sister-in-law, Mabel Eva, who gave me a pair of complimentary movie tickets to this movie which I've watched on Monday afternoon! :)
I absolutely love it so much! :)
I don't mind watching it again.. :)
I was so impressed with Jaden Smith!
Jaden Smith is such an awesome child actor!
Although this was not his 1st big screen performance but I think he did a great job in this movie.. :)
Such impressive & convincing acting of a child actor at such a young age!
One can also see that he put in a lot of hard work & effort into his role & his martial arts skills were good..
I'm very sure he's gonna grow up to become one of Hollywood's best actors around!
Will Smith & his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith has indeed taught him very well & without a doubt, he has definitely inherited their awesome acting genes! :)

Also bought balloons for Shawn Ethan, and 2 sets of pyjamas for Jonathan Ezra..
Bought myself a small black tote bag from the Daiso outlet there.. :)
